Eric Blandin is a French aerodynamicist. Since 2025, Blandin has served as the Aerodynamics Director atAston Martin Formula One Team; he previously served as the Deputy Technical Director under former Technical DirectorDan Fallows.

Career

[edit]

In 1998, after finishing his master's degree in fluid mechanics atPierre and Marie Curie University, Blandin began his career as an aerodynamicist at Fondmetal Technologies, working in the production of wind tunnels. In 2002, he transferred to theJaguar Formula 1 team, working in the aerodynamics field. Blandin remained with the Milton Keynes-based team following its transformation toRed Bull Racing, becoming team leader in the aerodynamics field before his departure in late 2009. During this period, he worked alongsideDan Fallows.[1][2]

As of January 2010, Blandin spent 14 months asFerrari's head of aerodynamics before joiningMercedes as principal aerodynamics engineer the following year. In 2017 he was promoted to the position of chief aerodynamicist.

On November 24, 2021, it was announced that Blandin would leave Mercedes and join theAston Martin team in early 2022. The team did not specify what role Blandin will fill. However, it was later disclosed that Blandin will only actually work at Aston Martin in July 2022, after a period of absence from all matters related to Mercedes.[3] From July 2022 to December 2024, Blandin served as Deputy Technical Director under his former colleague, now-former Technical Director Dan Fallows. During his time as Deputy Technical Director, Blandin contributed to the development of theAMR23,AMR24 andAMR25. Since January 2025, Blandin has been serving as the Aerodynamics Director according to his LinkedIn, which is believed to be as a result of the removal of Dan Fallows as Technical Director and Aston Martin's move of Blandin to his current position.
