TheOffice of the Bishop Suffragan for Armed Forces and Federal Ministries in the United States is responsible forEpiscopal Churchchaplains and their congregations in theU.S. Department of Defense, theU.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and theFederal Bureau of Prisons.
In accordance with the Constitution ofThe Episcopal Church, “It shall be lawful for the House of Bishops to elect a Bishop who, under the direction of the Presiding Bishop, shall oversee the work of those chaplains in the Armed Forces of the United States, Veterans' Administration Medical Centers, and FederalCorrectional Institutions who are ordained Ministers of this Church (Article 2, Section 7).”
