Enrico Boselli (born 7 January 1957) is an Italian politician. He has been Vice President ofAlliance for Italy, and is the former leader of theItalian Democratic Socialists and the modern-daySocialist Party, and formerpresident of Emilia-Romagna.
A former member of the historicalItalian Socialist Party (PSI), Boselli was first elected as MP in 1994. After the dissolution of the PSI in 1994, he has been leader of theItalian Socialists and theItalian Democratic Socialists. He also served asmember of the European Parliament from 1999 to 2004 as member of theGroup of the Party of European Socialists.[1] From September 1999 to 2001, Boselli served as rapporteur for the second reading of theInfoSoc directive, having been named by theCommittee on Legal Affairs and the Internal Market.[2]
Boselli was one of the main minds behind his party's decision to join forces with theItalian Radicals ofEmma Bonino to found theRose in the Fist, on the occasion of the2006 Italian general election. In 2007, he founded the newSocialist Party, with whom he participated in the2008 Italian general election but obtained only 0.9% of the vote. In December 2010, Boselli joined thecentrist partyAlliance for Italy, and became vice-president not long after.[3]
At the sitting of 26 October 2000 the President of Parliament announced that the common position had been received and referred to the Committee on Legal Affairs and the Internal Market (9512/1/2000 – C5-0520/2000). The committee had appointed Enrico Boselli rapporteur at its meeting of 23 September 1999. It considered the common position and the draft recommendation for second reading at its meetings of 8, 15, 24, 29, 30 and 5 February 2001.
