Enric Saborit Teixidor (Catalan pronunciation:[ənˈriksəβuˈɾit]; born 27 April 1992) is a Spanish professionalfootballer who plays as aleft-back forCypriot First Division clubAEK Larnaca.
Developed atAthletic Bilbao, where he was mainly areserve, he spent most of his professional career atMaccabi Tel Aviv, making over 200 total appearances and winning theIsraeli Premier League three times.
Born inBarcelona,Catalonia and raised inMataró,[2][3] at the age of 16 Saborit left theyouth ranks of localRCD Espanyol and moved toVitoria-Gasteiz where his mother was living.[2][4] He joinedAthletic Bilbao a short time later,[5] prompting debate over whether his signing met the criteria of theclub's policy as he had no link to theBasque region other than the short period of residency in the territory.[4][3]
After graduating from Athletic's youth academy atLezama, Saborit spent three full seasons withthe reserves in theSegunda División B. He played 36 games in2012–13,playoffs included.
Saborit made hisLa Liga debut with theLions on 25 August 2013, playing the full 90 minutes in a 2–0 win againstCA Osasuna at theAnoeta Stadium.[6] On 9 July 2014, having been sparingly used in hisdebut campaign, he was loaned toRCD Mallorca ofSegunda División.[7]
Saborit returned to Bilbao Athletic in2015–16, and featured regularly in their attempt to stay in the second tier, which ultimately proved unsuccessful. He made one appearance for the first team againstAZ Alkmaar, in thegroup stage of theUEFA Europa League, starting andassisting with his head toKike Sola's goal to mark hisEuropean debut.[8]
Saborit was promoted once more to the main squad for the2016–17 season, as understudy toMikel Balenziaga.[9] He scored his first senior goal on 8 December 2016, in a 1–1 draw atSK Rapid Wien in theEuropa League group phase.[10]
At the end of the2017–18 campaign, in which he featured in 23 matches in all competitions, Saborit was released by Athletic.[11]
On 26 June 2018, Saborit signed forMaccabi Tel Aviv F.C. on a three-year contract.[12] He wonIsraeli Premier League titles in his first two seasons,[13][14] and on 10 December 2020 he scored the only goal of a home win overSivasspor to advance into theEuropa League knockout stage at the Turkish club's expense.[15]
Saborit and other foreign Maccabi players were briefly evacuated from the country during theIsrael–Palestine crisis in May 2021,[16] returning the following monthto win theState Cup againstcity rivalsHapoel Tel Aviv FC; he subsequently extended his contract to 2024.[17] In thelast 32 of theUEFA Europa Conference League on 24 February 2022, he netted a late equaliser againstPSV Eindhoven atBloomfield Stadium, though the visitors advanced with their goal from the first leg.[18]
On 30 July 2024, Saborit joinedGaziantep F.K. of the TurkishSüper Lig on a one-year deal.[19] In March 2025, he switched to theChilean Primera División withDeportes Iquique,[20] being allowed to leave on 18 June for personal reasons.[21]
Saborit remained abroad in the2025–26 season, with the 33-year-old agreeing to a two-year contract atCypriot First Division clubAEK Larnaca FC.[22]
