TheEngland cricket team toured Pakistan in October 2024 to play threeTest matches againstPakistan cricket team.^[1][2][3] The Test series formed part of the2023–2025 ICC World Test Championship.^[4][5] ThePakistan Cricket Board (PCB) finalized the bilateral series as a part of the 2023–2027ICC Future Tours Programme.^[6] In July 2024, the PCB confirmed the fixtures for the tour, as a part of the 2024–25 home international season.^[7][8]

On 20 September 2024, the PCB announced that the second Test would be held inMultan, due to ongoing renovation work at theNational Stadium, Karachi in preparation for the2025 ICC Champions Trophy.^[9][10] The option of moving one or more matches to theUnited Arab Emirates orSri Lanka had been considered.^[11]

Worldwide broadcasting rights were awarded to a consortium led by TransGroup andARY.^[12] In theUnited Kingdom,Sky Sports secured a late deal to broadcast the series live on television,^[13][14] whilst theBBC obtained the rights to provide radio coverage onTest Match Special.^[15]

In December 2022, during theirprevious tour of Pakistan, England won all three Test matches played.^[11][16] Only eight players from that tour were included in the 17-man squad for this series.^[17]

On 26 September 2024,Josh Hull was ruled out of the series with aquad injury.^[20] On the same day, the PCB announced thatZahid Mahmood would join the Pakistan squad in training, but that it would be reduced in size to 15 players before the first Test.^[21] On 5 October,Ben Stokes was ruled out of the first Test due to thehamstring injury which had prevented him taking part in England'sprevious Test series againstSri Lanka. After taking charge of the side during that series,Ollie Pope was appointed captain for the fourth consecutive game.^[22][23]Olly Stone was unavailable for the first Test, having planned to return to theUnited Kingdom three days prior to his wedding on 12 October.^[24][25]

Shaheen Afridi,Sarfaraz Ahmed,Babar Azam andNaseem Shah were dropped by Pakistan prior to the second and third Tests, for whichAbrar Ahmed was unavailable for selection as he was recovering fromDengue fever.^[19]

The team of match officials for the series, headed byRichie Richardson asreferee, was announced by thePCB on 3 October 2024.^[26]
