Theencirclement campaigns of the Chinese Civil War wereRepublic of China (ROC) offensives againstChinese Communist Party (CCP)revolutionary base areas in China from the late 1920s to 1934 during theChinese Civil War.[1][2]
The climax were the five "encirclement and suppression",[2] or "extermination",[1] campaigns against theChinese Soviet Republic (CSR) from 1930 to 1934.[2] The final campaign, developed withGerman advisors, destroyed the CSR'sJiangxi Soviet and precipitated the CCP's strategic retreat in theLong March.[3][4]
