TheEmirate of Riyadh[1] was the first iteration of theThird Saudi State from 1902 to 1913.[2] It was amonarchy led by theHouse of Saud.[1] The state was formed after Saudi forces seizedRiyadh from the control of theEmirate of Jabal Shammar, led by theHouse of Rashid, during theBattle of Riyadh.[1] It was the direct antecedent of theEmirate of Nejd and Hasa, and the earliest legal predecessor of present-daySaudi Arabia.Al-Hasa was conquered in 1913.
