Emir Batur Albayrak (born 7 June 2007) is a Turkish Junior Olympianswimmer who specializes in the 1500 mfreestyle swimming and marathon swimming events.

Sport career

Albayrak is a member ofAntalyaspor Swimming.[1][2] He is 1.77 m (5 ft9+12 in) tall.[3]

2020

In 2020, Albayrak set new national records in the U13 400 m freestyle event with 8:14.46 and in the U13 800 m freestyle with 8:31.07.[4]

2022

He captured the gold medal in the U16 5 km open water event with 1:06:41.7 at the2022 LEN European Junior Open Water Championships held inSetúbal, Portugal.[5][6] He won another gold medal in the U16 Mixed team relay event with his three teammates in 58:55.7.[7]

He took the silver medal in the 1500 m freestyle event at the2022 European Youth Olympic Festival inBanská Bystrica, Slovakia.[8]

Albayrak won the bronze medal in the 1500 m freestyle event at the2022 European Junior Championships inOtopeni, Romania. He improved his own national U16 record wşth 15:15.24.[1]

He competed at theOpen water swimming at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships inBudapest, Hungary, and ranked 20th in the5 km event, and placed 12th in theMixed team event with his three teammates.[2]

At the 2022 FINA World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships inMahé, Seychelles, he placed 7th in the U15 5 km event with his time 49:00.70. He and his teammates finished the 4x1500 m event on the 10th place.[9]

2023

At the2023 European Junior Championships inBelgrade, Serbia, he won bronze medals in the freestyle events of 1500 m,[10] and 4×200 m.[11]

He captured the gold medal in the 400 m freestyle event of the2023 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival inMaribor, Slovenia, and set a festival boys record with 3:51.29.[12]

2024

He competed at the2024 World Aquatics Championships inDoha, Qatar. In the 400 m freestyle,[13] and the1500 m freestyle events,[14] he failed to advance to the final. At theOpen water swimming competitions of the same championships, he finished the5 km event on the 18th place,[15] and ranked in the10 km event on the 27th place. He and his three teammates finished theTeam event on the 16th place.

Albayrak received a quota for participation at the2024 Summer Olympics inParis, France.[16] He competed in the1500 m freestyle,[14] and failed to advance to the finals. He did not finish themarathon 10 km event.[17]

Emir Batur Albayrak was born on 7 June 2007.[3] He is a high school student atDoğa Schools inAntalya.[4]
