Emiliano Sordi (born 15 February 1991) is an Argentine professionalmixed martial artist who competes in thelight heavyweight division of theProfessional Fighters League, where he was the2019 Light Heavyweight Tournament Champion.[1] He has also formerly competed forJungle Fight andBellator MMA. As of February 12, 2026, he is #9 in thePFL light heavyweight rankings.[2]
Emiliano Sordi started his MMA career in 2009, in the regional promotion Real Fights Argentina. His debut was a loss. He then fought for many promotions across South America, racking up a record of 11 wins and 4 losses.
In 2014, Sordi signed withBellator MMA. He debuted for the promotion with the eventBellator 128, on 10 October, winning againstBubba McDaniel viasubmission.[3]
He fought two more times for the promotion, losing both times. The first was againstA.J. Matthews atBellator 141 on 28 August 2015, where he lost via TKO after his corner stopped the fight between rounds one and two. The second loss was against Gregory Babene atBellator 166 on 2 December 2016, via a guillotine choke in the first round.
After another 2 wins on the South American MMA regional scene, Sordi fought atDana White's Contender Series 10 on 19 June 2018. His fight was againstRyan Spann and Sordi was submitted 26 seconds into the bout via a guillotine choke.
In 2018, Sordi began competing in the Light heavyweight division of theProfessional Fighters League. He debuted in the eventPFL 7, where he knocked outJason Butcher in the first round.[4] In his second fight for the promotion, Sordi lost toBozigit Ataev atPFL 9.[5]
Sordi started the 2019 season with a victory over Brazilian fighterVinny Magalhães atPFL 3.[6] He then avenged his 2018 loss against Bozigit Ataev with aknockout victory atPFL 6.[7]
With those two victories, Sordi qualified for the2019 PFL Tournament Playoffs atPFL 9. He beatSigi Pesaleli and Bozigit Ataev on the same night, qualifying for the tournament final.[8]
On 21 December 2019, Sordi facedJordan Johnson atPFL 10 atMadison Square Garden in New York City to determine the 2019 PLF Tournament Champion. Sordi won via knockout on the first round and became the first Argentine PFL Tournament Champion[9]
The PFL 2020 season was canceled because of theCOVID-19 pandemic[10]
Sordi started the 2021 season atPFL 2, where he beatChris Camozzi via unanimous decision.[11] He then foughtDan Spohn to adraw atPFL 5, qualifying to the 2021 playoffs.[12]
AtPFL 9, Sordi lost via unanimous decision toAntônio Carlos Júnior,[13] who would later then become thePFL 2021 Light Heavyweight Tournament Champion.[14]
Sordi was expected to faceJosh Silveira atPFL 1, but his opponent pulled out of the fight three days before the event.[15] Sordi instead faced late-replacementCory Hendricks, and lost viatechnical knockout.[16]
AtPFL 4, Sordi lost toDelan Monte.[17] With two losses, Sordi failed to qualify to the playoffs.
In 2023, Sordi decided to leave PFL and signed a one-fight deal withUAE Warriors. He foughtAsylzhan Bakhytzhanuly atUAE Warriors 36, and lost via technical knockout.[18]
Sordi beatMarkus Perez in May 2023.[19]
On 11 December 2024, it was announced that Sordi was signed by Global Fight League.[20] However, in April 2025, it was reported that all GFL events were cancelled indefinitely.[21]
