Emeri Kate Adames (born April 3, 2006) is an American professionalsoccer player who plays as aforward for theSeattle Reign of theNational Women's Soccer League (NWSL). Adames signed with the Reign at the age of 17 in 2024. She won bronze medals with the youth national team at the2023 Pan American Games and the2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.

Early life

Adames was raised inDallas, Texas.[2] She attended her first two years of high school at Life High School Waxahachie, where she set a school record with 47 goals in one season in 2021 as a freshman, and she competed incross country andtrack.[3] She then attended theUniversity of Texas at Austin High School.[3] She played club soccer for the Dallas Texans Soccer Club and then Solar Soccer Club, earningECNL All-American honors from 2021 to 2023.[3][4]

Club career

Seattle Reign

After training withSeattle Reign FC in the preseason, Adames signed a multi-year contract with club on March 13, 2024, through the NWSL'sUnder-18 Entry Mechanism.[5] She had previously committed to play college soccer at theUniversity of North Carolina.[2] Adames took the number 47 jersey in emulation ofManchester City playerPhil Foden.[6] She made her professional debut on March 17, coming on in the last minutes of the season-opening 1–0 win against theWashington Spirit.[7] On May 25, she scored her first professional goal just before full time in a 3–2 away loss to the Washington Spirit.[8] On August 25, she created an own goal in stoppage time that led to a 1–0 win against theNorth Carolina Courage. In celebration, she emulated the outstretched-arms pose of her childhood idolMegan Rapinoe, whose jersey was being retired by the Reign that night.[9]

International career

Adames trained with United States youth national team beginning at theunder-14 level.[5] She played all four games for theunder-17 team at the2022 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.[10] She won bronze withnational under-19 at the2023 Pan American Games, where they played against other countries' senior sides. She scored three goals at the tournament, including in their semifinal loss toChile.[6] She started every game for theunder-20 team at the2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, helping the United States finish in third place. In the group stage, she provided three assists in the first half of their 7–0 win overParaguay. She had four assists in the tournament overall, the most by an American sinceHeather O'Reilly's seven in2002.[11][12]

Adames was called up to theunder-23 team, training concurrently with thesenior national team, in 2025.[13]
