Emarginachelys cretacea is aturtle belonging to the groupCryptodira, known from well preserved fossils from theMaastrichtian stage of the LateCretaceous ofMontana.[1] Its exact phylogenetic position within Cryptodira is uncertain; different authors considered it to be either the earliest describedchelydrid[2][3] or a fossil relative ofkinosternoids.[4][5][6]
