Elisabeth Kaiser (néeLier, born 4 March 1987) is a German politician of theSocial Democratic Party (SPD) who has been serving as a member of theBundestag from the state ofThuringia since 2017.[1]
In addition to her parliamentary work, Kaiser has been asParliamentary State Secretary for East Germany and Equivalent Living Conditions at theFederal Ministry of Finance in thegovernment ofChancellorFriedrich Merz since 2025.[2] She was previously a Parliamentary State Secretary at theFederal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building in thecoalition government ofChancellorOlaf Scholz from 2023 to 2025.[3]
During her studies, Kaiser worked atTelefónica Germany from 2011 until 2012.[4] She later worked at the German Society for Policy Advice (2013–2014) and as press spokesperson of the SPD parliamentary group in theState Parliament of Thuringia (2014–2017).
Kaiser became a member of the Bundestag in the2017 German federal election, representing theGera – Greiz – Altenburger Land district.[5] She is a member of the Committee for Home Affairs and the Committee for Construction, Housing, Urban Development and Communities.[6][7]
In addition to her committee assignments, Kaiser has been a member of the German delegation to theFranco-German Parliamentary Assembly since 2019.
