Elena Satine (Georgian:ელენა სატინი; born November 24, 1987)^[2] is aGeorgian-American^[3] actress and singer.^[4] On television, she has been featured as a series regular on theStarz period dramaMagic City (2012–2013), theABC dramaRevenge (2014–2015), and theNetflix space WesternCowboy Bebop (2021). She has also made appearances on superhero-themed series, portrayingMera onSmallville (2010),Lorelei onAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2014), andSonya Simonson / Dreamer onThe Gifted (2017).

Satine was born inTbilisi, capital of what was then theGeorgian Soviet Socialist Republic (currentGeorgia). Her mother was anopera singer and her father worked in the textile industry.^[5] At the age of five, Satine and her family moved toSochi, and she became a part of the Georgian pop group Nergebi, aMickey Mouse Club-like ensemble of child performers. She toured with Nergebi throughout Eastern Europe, including an appearance on children's variety showUtrennaya Zvezda (Morning Star) and later branched off into a solo career.^[6][7] At age 9, Satine became the youngest performer to headline at theKinotavr Festival.^[8]

In 1998, while accompanying her mother on a business trip, Satine snuck away to audition forProfessional Performing Arts School, and earned her admission on the spot. After convincing her parents to let her study in the United States, Satine moved to New York,^[4] and graduated from PPAS at age 16. Afterwards she continued her dramatic studies at theMoscow Art Theatre School in Russia.^[8][4]

Satine's television debut happened in an episode ofCold Case, playing an immigrant Russian singer.^[5] She has since appeared on TV shows includingGemini Division, CW'sMelrose Place, and the season 10Smallville episode "Patriot", in which she playedMera, the wife ofAquaman.^[9] She also appeared onITV'sPoirot, in a 2010 episode that adaptedMurder on the Orient Express.^[10]

Satine was for two years part of the main cast of theStarz seriesMagic City. The producers tailored the role of Judi Silver for Satine following her audition to play another part.^[11] Satine appeared on a 2014 episode ofABC'sAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. playingLorelei, a villainousAsgardian.^[7] She followed with another role in the same network,Louise Ellis inRevenge.^[12] Initially a recurring guest, Satine wound up promoted to the main cast eleven episodes intothe season.^[13]

In 2017 she appeared in two episodes ofTwin Peaks,^[14] and played Sonya in the Fox television seriesThe Gifted.

In August 2019, Satine was cast as Julia in a live-action version of theCowboy Bebop series,^[15] which was cancelled after the first season.^[16]

Satine andTyson Ritter, lead singer and bassist of the bandThe All-American Rejects, became engaged in April 2013 and married on December 31, 2013.^[17][18] They have a son, born in 2020.^[19]
