Electron is a suburb ofJohannesburg,South Africa. It is located in Region F of theCity of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality.
Prior to the discovery of gold on theWitwatersrand in 1886, the suburb lay on land on one of the original farms calledElandsfontein.[2] It became a suburb on 27 July 1949.[2][3]
