Eleanor Rand Wilner (born 1937) is an Americanpoet andeditor.
Wilner obtained her bachelor's fromGoucher College and her Ph.D. fromJohns Hopkins University.[1] Her graduate dissertation concerned the topic of imagination and was later published asGathering the Winds: Visionary Imagination and Radical Transformation of Self and Society (1975).[2]
She was editor ofThe American Poetry Review and she is Advisory Editor ofCalyx.[3]She has taught at theUniversity of Chicago,Northwestern University, andSmith College. She is on the faculty of the MFA Program for Writers atWarren Wilson College,[4] and lives inPhiladelphia.
In 2019, she won theRobert Frost Medal, the Poetry Society of America's award for a "distinguished lifetime service to American poetry."
She has been active in civil rights and peace movements.
