Ele Keats is an American television, film and stage actress, model, and jewelry designer. Keats's most notable roles were in theDisneymusicaldrama filmNewsies,Garry Marshall'sFrankie and Johnny, the biographical survival dramaAlive,Steven Soderbergh'sEros and thehorror filmInsidious: Chapter 3. She has also appeared in more than one hundred national TV commercials.
Keats began her professional career as a young model, being featured in publications such asAmerican Baby,Ladies' Home Journal &Teen Magazine.[citation needed]
After moving toLos Angeles she launched her acting career at fifteen, being featured in aMichael JacksonPepsi commercial and in 1988 she appeared inLL Cool J'sGoing Back to Cali music video, directed byRic Menello.[citation needed]
Keats has appeared in more than one hundredTV commercials, including the 1990Levi's jeans beach ad.[1]
She trained theatrically in New York and in Los Angeles under Gene Bua and Fran Rosen, among others, and starred in plays such asSeven Sided Circle, at the Gene Bua Theatre andMusic, America.[citation needed] Small television roles quickly followed, including the pilot forThe Outsiders, produced byFrancis Ford Coppola and a recurring part in theCBS sitcomDear John starringJudd Hirsch.
When she was still in her teens, Keats landed a regular role inFox's daily soap operaTribes as Anny, a pregnant teen girl. The same year she made her feature film debut with a featured role inThe Rocketeer.
A rapid succession of bigger roles followed in films such asThere Goes My Baby (filmed in 1990 but released in 1994 due toOrion Pictures' bankruptcy[2]),Garry Marshall'sFrankie and Johnny (oppositeAl Pacino andMichelle Pfeiffer), theDisneymusicalNewsies as Sarah Jacobs, love interest ofChristian Bale's Jack Kelly, andFrank Marshall's acclaimed dramaAlive.
During the 1990s, Keats landed leading and supporting roles in television and independent projects such asLipstick Camera, the thriller-dramaI Shot a Man in Vegas,Disney Channel'sWhite Wolves II: Legend of the Wild, Frank LaLoggia's thrillerThe Haunted Heart (later re-namedMother, starringDiane Ladd andOlympia Dukakis) and theCBS prime-time dramaRace Against Time: the Search of Sarah (in the title role). She also landed a regular role in theFox sci-fi seriesWhite Dwarf, again produced byFrancis Ford Coppola, but the pilot wasn't picked up to series and it aired as aTV movie in May 1995. In addition, she appeared in numerous popular TV series, includingDiagnosis: Murder,Class of '96,Touched by an Angel andMTV'sUndressed.
In 2001, she playedMichelle Phillips' daughter in the independent filmMarch and subsequently landed the role of the mysterious woman inSteven Soderbergh'sEros (oppositeRobert Downey Jr.), which debuted at theVenice Film Festival in 2004. Other roles include the leads in Heidi Van Leer's indie comediesMonday andAmerican Decaf. On television, she guest-starred in renowned series such asCSI: Crime Scene Investigation,CSI: NY,Cold Case andGreek and continued to appear in numerous national TV commercials for brands such asNissan,AT&T,Petco,Firestone andKellogg's. She also starred in the stage productionThe Vagina Monologues inLos Angeles.
In 2014 she starred inSnowflake, a critically acclaimed short film shot inNew York City oppositeTracy Middendorf.[3] She later booked roles in theBlumhouse horror filmsInsidious: Chapter 3 (as Lillith Brenner) andOuija: Origin of Evil.
In 2017, she playedAdam Baldwin's wife Christine inThe Last Ship and in 2018 had a role in the mid-season finale ofCBS'sNCIS.
Apart from her job as an actress, Keats has launched her ownjewelry line in 2005, Ele Keats Jewelry.[4] As ajewelry designer, Keats specializes in inspirational andbirthstone designs and works only with ethical stones.[5] Her creations have been featured in several magazines, worn in many movies and TV shows and received an overwhelming response from celebrity clientele, who praise her inspirational designs as “simply stunning.”[6]
Keats countsDiane Keaton,Elizabeth Berkley,Poppy Montgomery,Carla Gugino,Jessica Biel,Laura Dern,Stefanie Scott,Cameron Diaz, andMandy Moore among her clients.[5]
TheEle Keats Jewelry official shop was opened in 2013 inBrentwood, Los Angeles. RenamedEle Keats Jewelry Lifestyle Experience, the shop relocated in a new, wider space inSanta Monica, California in 2016.
Keats is avegan and has been practicingyoga andmeditation for more than 20 years.[6]
