Elana Toruń is a Polishfootball club based inToruń. It competes in group II of theIII liga, fourth tier of thePolish football league system.
The team was at the second level of the Polish pyramid in the 1990s, but were relegated at the conclusion of the 1998–99 season.[2] In the following season, the club changed their name toTKP Toruń, but they were relegated again to the fourth level.[3] The club were often referred to asToruński KP, but by the 2007–08 season, they had returned to their original name ofElana Toruń and were back playing on the Polish third level.[4] During the 2021–22 season, the club declared bankruptcy and withdrew from theIII liga.[5] The reserve team continued playing in theLiga okręgowa, securing promotion to theIV liga, and became the new first team since the 2022–23 season, under the nameFundacja Akademia Futbolu Elana Toruń. In mid-2023, after earning promotion back to theIII liga, the club had to change its legal entity and name toZKS Elana 1968 sp. z o.o., a limited liability company, as foundations are not allowed to compete in the Polish fourth division.[6]
Elana fans are commonly known asElanowcy and include anultras group of around 100-1000 (depending on match) fanatical supporters. Apart fromToruń, there are fan-clubs inGniewkowo,Golub-Dobrzyń,Ostaszewo,Aleksandrów Kujawski,Ciechocinek,Kowalewo Pomorskie,Obrowo,Lubicz andWąbrzeźno.[7]
They have a long-standing friendship with fans ofRuch Chorzów andKS Myszków (who are also Ruch fans), friendly relations withWidzew Łódź fans fromGrudziądz,[8] and more recentlyWisła Kraków andKKS Kalisz fans.
As the city of Toruń has a rivalry withBydgoszcz that extends even beyond sport,[9] Elana competes theCuiavian derby[10] withZawisza andPolonia. They also compete with fans ofspeedway clubApator Toruń.
