Elaine Shenton (née Watson) is a British formertennis player.
Shenton grew up inHertfordshire and was a British junior champion.[1] She was doubles champion at theItalian championships in 1954, partneringPat Ward.[2] In 1955 she won the singles titles at both theScottish Championships andWelsh Covered Court Championships.[3] She was runner-up toAnn Haydon in the singles final at theNorth of England Championships in 1956.[4] At the1956 Wimbledon Championships, Shenton won through to the fourth round, before losing to eventual finalistAngela Buxton.[5] In 1957 she won theChapel Allerton Open inLeeds. She was ranked as high as sixth in Great Britain.[1]
