Elaine Stewart is a BritishLabour Party politician who has been theMember of Parliament forAyr, Carrick and Cumnock since2024.
The Daily Record noted that Stewart has "more than 30 years' background in community projects within the third sector".[1]
A member of theLabour Party, she gained the seat fromAllan Dorans, of theScottish National Party.[2] Stewart was involved in local politics prior to becoming an MP. She contested theDoon Valley ward ofEast Ayrshire Council in the2017 local elections but was unsuccessful, being eliminated after the fifth count.[3] She contested the ward again in the2022 local elections and was elected on the third count.[4] She was nominated for the position ofProvost in 2023 but was unsuccessful.[5]
