InGreek mythology,Eirene (/ˈrni/;Ancient Greek:Εἰρήνη,romanizedEirḗnē,lit.'Peace',Ancient Greek pronunciation:[eːrɛ̌ːnɛː]) orIrene, was a daughter ofPoseidon andMelanthea, daughter ofAlpheus. She gave her name to Eirene, a small island near thePeloponnese.[1] The island was later called Anthedonia and Hypereia, but eventually received the nameCalauria after Calaurus, who was also a son of Poseidon.
