Eion Francis Hamilton Bailey (/ˈɒn/EE-on;[1] born June 8, 1976) is an American actor.

He stars as Jim Matthews in theMGM+ horror seriesFrom. He played Pvt.David Kenyon Webster in theHBO miniseriesBand of Brothers and appeared in the filmsFight Club,Center Stage,Mindhunters, andSexual Life. He had arecurring role on theUSA Network TV seriesCovert Affairs and played August (Pinocchio) in theABC TV seriesOnce Upon a Time. He also had a recurring role as Ray, a psychopathic killer in theCBS seriesStalker.

Bailey marriedWeyni Mengesha, a Canadian theatre director, in 2011.[2] The couple have two children.

Career

Bailey struggled in school until he found his calling in his high school's drama department. He was soon performing in each school play and went on to study formally at theAmerican Academy of Dramatic Arts inNew York City. He briefly attendedSanta Barbara City College. He appeared inAlmost Famous, portrayingJann Wenner. He was seen inCenter Stage,[3]Fight Club,[4] Catherine Jelski'sThe Young Unknowns,The Scoundrel's Wife,[5]Seven and a Match,[citation needed]Renny Harlin'sMindhunters forMiramax,[6] and the independent featureSexual Life for directorKen Kwapis.[7] He auditioned for the role ofBruce Wayne inBatman Begins (2005).[8]

His television appearances includeDawson's Creek,HBO's highly acclaimed seriesBand of Brothers produced byTom Hanks andSteven Spielberg,[9] and the HBO original filmAnd Starring Pancho Villa as Himself oppositeAntonio Banderas.[10]

Onstage, Bailey appeared inEquus at thePasadena Playhouse, as well asSpoon River Anthology,Look Homeward, Angel, andDinner at Eight at theAmerican Academy of Dramatic Arts,Desire and I at the Access Theatre Santa Barbara, andIcarus' Mother at the SBCC Studio Theatre.[citation needed]

In 2007, Bailey was awarded aDaytime Emmy for his performance inLife of the Party.[11][12] Bailey had recurring guest-starring roles on the TV seriesDawson's Creek andER.[13]

In 2010, Bailey had a recurring role inUSA Network'sCovert Affairs as Ben Mercer, Annie's ex-boyfriend, who was being targeted by theCIA, before returning to the Agency near the end of Season 1.[14] Bailey had a guest role on30 Rock in 2011 as Anders, a love interest ofLiz Lemon's who is "definitely not a Swiss prostitute that Martha Stewart recommended."[15] In 2012, Bailey started recurring onOnce Upon a Time as August Booth.[16]

On May 1, 2013, Bailey guest-starred in "Traumatic Wound" onLaw & Order: Special Victims Unit as Frank Patterson, anIraqwar veteran withPTSD who becomes a key witness in an investigation of asexual assault in a nightclub.[17]
