Edwin Forrest School is a public elementary school located in theMayfair neighborhood ofPhiladelphia, Pennsylvania. It is within theSchool District of Philadelphia.
It was designed byIrwin T. Catharine and built in 1928–1929. It is a three-story, eight-bay, yellow brick building in theArt Deco style. It features an arched entryway withterra cotta trim, terra cotta cornice, and brickparapet.[2] It was named for actorEdwin Forrest (1806–1872).
It was added to theNational Register of Historic Places in 1988.[1]
Students zoned to Forrest are also zoned to Austin Meehan Middle School andAbraham Lincoln High School.[3]
