Lieutenant-ColonelEdward Archibald Bruce (bornBrice; 1 September 1849 – 14 November 1918) was an Englishcricketer who playedfirst-class cricket in six matches forGloucestershire as a right-arm fast bowler.[1]
Born in what is nowAndhra Pradesh, inBritish India, he was son of Colonel Edward Brice of theMadras Infantry. He was educated atCheltenham College.[1][2]
He took 20 wickets at abowling average of 13.20, with twofive-wicket hauls, both in 1872.[3][4] In non-first-class cricket he made 30 appearances forCheltenham College,Birkenhead Park andSomerset. He also served in thearmed forces, stationed inWinchester.[5][6] In August 1875 he changed his surname from Brice to Bruce, and scorecards after that date record his new surname.[5]
