Eduardo María de la Peña Ayerza[2] (born 7 June 1955) is a retiredfootballmidfielder who played most of his career in theUruguayan Primera División. He also played for Uruguay in the1979 Copa América.
Born inMinas, De la Peña began playing professional football withClub Nacional de Football in 1976. The same year the Nacional midfielder won the local championship.[3]
In 1982, De la Peña moved toMexico to play forMexican Primera División sideTecos de la UAG. Two seasons later, he went toArgentina to play forArgentine Primera División sideClub Atlético Huracán.[4]
De la Peña played in theUruguay national football team for four years, making 19 appearances and scoring one goal.[5] He participated in the1979 Copa América.[6]
