Eduardo Antonio Furniel Arriagada (born 2 January 1956), commonly known asEduardo Fournier,[2] is a Chilean formerfootball player and coach.

Playing career

Born inTalca, Fournier played as agoalkeeper for clubs includingAudax Italiano andCobreloa.

As a member ofUniversidad de Chile, Fournier was one of the mainstays players in the 1989 season, when the club returned to thePrimera División, alongside teammates such asHéctor Hoffens,Marco Fajre,Horacio Rivas [es], among others.[3][4]

Fournier representedChile at the1984 Summer Olympics.[5] Fournier also made one appearance for Chile in the 1987 Pan-American games.[6]

Coaching career

After retiring as a player, Fournier became a football coach and managed a number of Chilean club sides includingRangers and their youth teams[7] andCobreloa. From 2008 to 2017, he worked as goalkeeping coach ofSantiago Wanderers.[1]

Personal life

His son, Gianni Furniel,[8] also known as Gianni Fournier,[9] is a former professional footballer who played as a defender forRangers de Talca andFernández Vial.[10]

He is known by his nicknameLoco (Crazy).[7]
