TheEddie Robinson Award is awarded annually tocollege football's top head coach in theNCAA Division IFootball Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA). The award was established byThe Sports Network, since merged intoStats Perform, in 1987 and is voted upon by the division's sports information directors and selected sports writers.[1] The award is named forEddie Robinson, theCollege Football Hall of Fame coach, who retired in 1997 after 56 years atGrambling State University.
Along with theWalter Payton Award andBuck Buchanan Award, it is presented the night before the annualNCAA Division I Football Championship.
