
Eastern Siberia is a part ofSiberia that incorporates the territory located between theYenisei River in the west and thePacific Oceandivides in the east. Its area is equal to 7.2 million sq. km.[1]
Most of Eastern Siberia is occupied by theCentral Siberian Plateau, as well as bytundra in the north and mountain ranges in the south. The Eastern Siberian region consists ofYakutia,Buryatia,Tuva,Krasnoyarsk Krai,Irkutsk Oblast andChita Oblast. The largest cities areIrkutsk andKrasnoyarsk.

It considerably overlaps, but does not coincide with, theRussian Far East, which stretches fromLake Baikal to thePacific Ocean.
