East Capitol Street is a major street that divides thenortheast andsoutheast quadrants ofWashington, D.C., United States. It runs due east from theUnited States Capitol to the DC-Maryland border. The street is uninterrupted untilLincoln Park then continues eastward around theRFK Stadium campus. East of the stadium, East Capitol crosses theAnacostia River via theWhitney Young Memorial Bridge and then goes underneathRoute 295 before crossing intoPrince George's County, Maryland, where it becomesMaryland State Highway 214.
The western stretch of East Capitol Street passes through theCapitol Hill andHill East neighborhoods. East Capitol Street is home to theFolger Shakespeare Library,US-Asia Institute,Les Aspin Center for Government,East Capitol Street Car Barn,D.C. Armory, and the futureNew Commanders Stadium.
