
TheEast Branch Croton River is atributary of theCroton River inDutchess,Putnam, andWestchester counties in the state ofNew York. It lies within theCroton River watershed and is part of theNew York City water supply system'sCroton Watershed.[1]
The river rises in the town ofPawling in Dutchess County, flowing west and then south through thevillage of Pawling. It crosses into Putnam County, flowing through theGreat Swamp in the town ofPatterson. It then flows south, west and southwest through the town ofSoutheast, passing through theEast Branch Reservoir, the village ofBrewster, and theDiverting Reservoir. Finally, it crosses into Westchester County, joining theWest Branch Croton River at the hamlet ofCroton Falls inNorth Salem to form the mainCroton River.
