East Acton is an area inActon inLondon,[1] England, 5.3 miles (9 km) west ofCharing Cross. It is partly in theLondon Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and partly in theLondon Borough of Ealing. It is served byEast Acton Underground station, on theCentral line inLondon fare zone 2.
Historically, East Acton andActon developed as separate settlements and the nearby districts ofNorth Acton,West Acton andSouth Acton were developed in the late nineteenth century.[2]
Since 3 July 2012, East Acton has been home to thecathedral of theSyriac Orthodox Church in the United Kingdom.[3] The cathedral, dedicated toSaint Thomas, was formally consecrated on 17 November 2016, in the presence ofPrince Charles.[4]
