AnEMD GP28 is a 4-axlediesel-electric locomotive built byGeneral Motors Electro-Motive Division between March 1964 and November 1965. Power was provided by anEMD 16-567D1 16-cylinder engine which generated 1,800horsepower (1.34 MW). This locomotive was basically a naturally aspirated version of theEMD GP35.[1]
16 examples of this locomotive model were built forAmerican railroads, 10 were built forMexican railroads, and five were built for use in Peru.
