ECT (Extra Celestial Transmission) is aBritish television music programme dedicated to hard rock and metal music genres.[1]
Ten episodes were broadcast onChannel 4 from 12 April 1985 – 14 June 1985. It aired on Friday evenings (17:30–18:10) as part of Channel 4's "Friday Zone" that also includedPaintbox (18:10–18:20) andSoul Train (18:20–19:00).[2]
It preceded two other UK TV programmes aimed at fans ofhard rock andheavy metal:Power Hour (1988–1990) andRaw Power (1990–1993).[3]
The shows were recorded atWembley Studios and produced byKeith McMillan's Keefco production company.[4] The series producer was Annie Russell.[5]
Each artist played two or three songs live. In addition to the live bands, the show had its own dance troupe, Beauxartz, choreographed by Kevan Allen.[6]
