Dyron Patrick Nix (February 11, 1967 – December 15, 2013) was an American professionalbasketball player. During his professional career, he played in theNational Basketball Association (NBA), as well as in several other leagues worldwide.
Nix attendedFort Walton Beach High, inFort Walton Beach, Florida, where he played high school basketball. After high school, Nix, a 6-foot-7-inch (2.01 m), 210-pound (95 kg)small forward, playedcollege basketball for theTennessee Volunteers, from 1985 to 1989. He was a two-time first team All-SEC performer, in 1988 and 1989. As a junior in 1987–88, Nix led the SEC in scoring, averaging 22.2 points per game. He averaged 21.6 points per game during his senior season.
Nix was selected by theCharlotte Hornets, in the second round, with the 29th overall pick, of the1989 NBA draft. Nix played only one year in the NBA, with theIndiana Pacers, during the1989–90 season. He averaged 2.0 points per game, in 20 games played.
Nix's daughter Cree, began hercollege basketball career atLipscomb University, and then she transferred to theUniversity of Illinois at Chicago.[1]
Nix died ofpneumonia, on December 15, 2013, inAtlanta. He died at the age of 46.[2]
