Dylan Castanheira (born May 23, 1995) is a retired Americansoccer player who played as agoalkeeper.

Career

Youth and college

Raised in theLanding section ofRoxbury, New Jersey, Castanheira played prep soccer atRoxbury High School, leaving after his junior year to join the academy team ofBristol City in 2012, before returning to the United States in 2014.[2]

Castanheira played four years ofcollege soccer atColumbia University, where he made 47 appearances for theLions and kept 25 shutouts.[3]

While at college, Castanheira also played withPremier Development League sideLong Island Rough Riders.[4]

Professional career

On January 11, 2019, Castanheira signed forUSL Championship sideAtlanta United 2.[5]

Despite having signed for Atlanta United 2, Castanheira was selected byFC Dallas in the fourth round (88th overall) of the2019 MLS SuperDraft on January 14, 2019.[6] His MLS rights were traded to expansion sideInter Miami CF on January 8, 2020, in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the2020 MLS SuperDraft.[7]

On January 27, 2021, Castanheira moved to Fort Lauderdale's parent sideInter Miami inMajor League Soccer.[8]

On September 3, 2021, Castanheira joinedUSL Championship clubSan Diego Loyal on loan following an injury to San Diego goalkeeperTrey Muse.[9]

Following the 2021 season, Castanheira's contract option was declined by Miami.[10]

On December 17, 2021, Dylan was announced as a member of Atlanta United for the following season.[11] Castanheira's contract option was declined by Atlanta following the 2022 season.[12]
