TheDyckman-Hillside Substation, also known asSubstation 17, is a historicelectrical substation located at 127-129 Hillside Avenue between Sickles Street and Nagle Avenue, near theDyckman Street station of theNew York City Subway'sIRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line, inInwood,Manhattan,New York City. It was one of eight substations constructed by theInterborough Rapid Transit Company in 1904–05.
The substation is a two-story, freestanding masonry building in theBeaux-Arts style. It features a hipped roof, tower-like projections, scrolled wrought iron brackets, andterra cotta decorative details.[2]
It was listed on theNational Register of Historic Places in 2006.[1]
