Dwykia (named after the overlyingDwyka Group) is anextinctgenus of prehistoric freshwaterray-finned fish that lived during the earlyCarboniferousperiod (Tournaisianage) in what is now South Africa.[1] It contains a single species,D. analensis from theWaaipoort Formation of the UpperWitteberg Series.[2][3] It is one of a number of early fish genera long placed in the likelyparaphyletic orderPalaeonisciformes.[4]
