Dwight Thornton Reed (May 13, 1915 – May 31, 2000) was an Americancollege football player, coach of college football,college basketball, andtrack, and athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach atLouisville Municipal College (a separate Negro College ofUniversity of Louisville) inLouisville, Kentucky andLincoln University inJefferson City, Missouri from 1949 to 1972, compiling a careercollege football coaching record of 149–84–7.[1] As acollege football player, Reed lettered three times at theUniversity of Minnesota and competed on the Gopher's1935 and1936 national championship squads.[2]
