Dvadashi (Sanskrit:द्वादशी,romanized: Dvādaśī),[1] also renderedDwadashi, is the twelfth lunar day (tithi)[2] of theshukla (bright) orkrishna (dark) fortnight, orPaksha, of every lunar month in theHindu calendar.[3]
Dwadashi is regarded to be suitable for the veneration of the sacredtulasi tree and the worship ofVishnu. It marks the end of the three-dayekadashi fast, starting ondashami.
Kurma - dwadashi Vrata This particular austerity is dedicated to the worship of lord Kurma - the incarnation of lord Vishnu. It is celebrated on twelfth day of bright half of the Hindu month 'pausha'.
