Dusty Ray Bottoms is thestage name ofDustin Rayburn, adrag performer most known for competing onseason 10 ofRuPaul's Drag Race. In 2022, Rayburn was featured inConversion, a new documentary film produced by Chronicle Cinema.[1] Rayburn was featured inRolling Stone magazine for Pride Month in 2023.[2]
Rayburn was born inLouisville, Kentucky and raised inFloyds Knobs, Indiana[3] in a conservative Christian family. Hecame out as gay at the age of 20; in response, he was sent toconversion therapy.[4][5][6] He moved to New York City at age 22.[7]
Dusty Ray Bottoms competed onseason 10 ofRuPaul's Drag Race. She discussed her experience of coming out and going to conversion therapy on the show.[8] She was eliminated from the competition after placing in the bottom two of the "Last Ball on Earth" challenge and losing alip sync againstMonét X Change to "Pound the Alarm" (2012) byNicki Minaj.[9][10] In 2018, Dusty Ray Bottoms released the punk-popsingle "Neva Lavd Yah",[11][12] which also received amusic video.[13]
