Thedusky rat (Rattus colletti) is an indigenous species ofrodent in the familyMuridae found in Australia.
Kunwinjku people of westernArnhem Land call this animalmulbbu, a name also applied to other rodent species.[3] It was first described in 1904 by British zoologistOldfield Thomas.[4]
The rat is found only in the monsoonal subcoastal plains of theNorthern Territory,Australia.
The dusky rat is eaten according to Peterson Nganjmirra[5][page needed] and is prey to the Australianwater python (Liasis fuscus) also ranging across northern Australia.
