Durkee is anunincorporated community inBaker County, Oregon, United States. It has a post office with theZIP code of 97905.[2] Durkee lies at the Vandercar Road exit ofInterstate 84.[3] Durkee is known as the site of Oregon's only cement plant, theAsh Grove Cement Company plant in nearbyNelson. It is one of Baker County's largest private employers;[4][5] opened in 1979, it succeeded the plant nearLime.

Durkee was originally a stage stop calledExpress, and by the 1860s it was the only transfer point betweenUmatilla, Oregon, andBoise, Idaho. It prospered as awater stop andtelegraph station for the railroad, and later as a stop onHighway 30, the only paved road in the area. The community wasplatted in 1908, even though the population had already peaked.[6]
