Duli Yang Maha Mulia (pronounced[du.lijaŋma.hamu.li.a]) is the title of the stateanthem ofSelangor,Malaysia. It was adopted in 1967. The writer of the lyrics is unknown. The music was written bySaiful Bahri, who also wrote and composed the Malaccan state anthem,Melaka Maju Jaya.[1]
The phrase is a royaltitle, equivalent to "His Royal Highness". It is used to refer to state rulers inMalaysia. This royaltitle is used especially on the heads of states ofNegeri Sembilan,Selangor,Perlis,Terengganu,Kedah,Kelantan,Pahang,Johor, andPerak.
The first state anthem of Selangor was composed in 1908. It was a re-interpretation of the folk songChantek Manis by Daniel Ortego. The lyrics to that are as follows:
In 1967,Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, then theSultan of Selangor, announced that the song would be replaced with the present anthem.[2]
