Duau, the name of thisancient Egyptianmoon god, also known asDauau, is seen in theinscriptions found in the middle of the ancientEgyptian pyramid ofUnas.[1] He was worshipped as the patron deity ofophthalmologists of early Egypt.[1][2]
His popularity was in early Egypt. Archaeologists have found a number of inscriptions that say that many amongst the aristocrat society and priests ofancient Egypt were followers of Duau.[1]
Although Duau began as amoon god, he later became thepatron deity of theophthalmologists of early Egypt.[1][2]
In ancient Egypt, various eye diseases were often seen. At that time, if the ophthalmologists could not cure that, people would seek the help ofMesenty Irty,the god of the blind.[1]
