Indonesia is not a party to the1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic. However, theInternational Driving Permit (IDP) is honored and is issued by theIndonesian National Police. Holders of the Indonesian driving license do not need to acquire an IDP to drive in anyASEAN countries in accordance with The Kuala Lumpur Agreement of 1985; this also applies vice versa whereby citizens of a member state from ASEAN only need to possess a valid driving licence of their respective countries to drive in Indonesia, and do not require any conversions or an IDP.[10]
