Driss Bamous (15 December 1942 – 16 April 2015) was aMoroccanfootballmidfielder. He was also a trained professional soldier at the military academy ofSaint Cyr,France.
Bamous played club football forFAR Rabat in theBotola. Bamous played for theMorocco national football team at the1964 Summer Olympics[2] and at the1970 FIFA World Cup finals.[3] Following his playing career, Bamous became the president of theFRMF and organized the1988 African Cup of Nations in Morocco.[4] In 2006, he was selected byCAF as one of the best 200 African football players of the last 50 years.[5] He was promoted tobrigadier general of theRoyal Moroccan Gendarmerie in 2003.[4]
Bamous died inRabat from a long-term illness.[6]
