Dr. Anish Andheria is an Indian large carnivore biologist,[1] wildlife conservationist, wildlife photographer, and the President and CEO of the Wildlife Conservation Trust (WCT),[2] a Mumbai-based not-for-profit organization that was founded in 2002 by veteran investment banker Hemendra Kothari,[3] Chairman, DSP Investment Managers.
He earned his Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Surface Chemistry from the Institute of Chemical Technology,[4] Mumbai. Post that he pursued Masters in Wildlife Biology and Conservation from the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS),[5] Bengaluru.
In 2000, Andheria joined Sanctuary Asia,[6] an Indian nature and wildlife conservation magazine founded by environmental activist Bittu Sahgal.[7] In 2009, he joined WCT as its President and CEO and continues to work with the organisation till date.
Andheria regularly contributes to scientific studies,[8] national[9] and international publications, and has also co-authored two books titled India Naturally and The Periyar Inheritance.
In 2008, he was awarded the Carl Zeiss Conservation Award[10] and in 2017, he was honoured with the UAA-Institute of Chemical Technology Distinguished Alumnus Award.[11]
