History

Dowsing began in 2011 with the release of an EP titledAll I Could Find Was You.[1] They followed that release with a 7-inch split with Parker via Count Your Lucky Stars.[2]

In 2012, Dowsing released their first studio album titledIt's Still Pretty Terrible via Count Your Lucky Stars.[3] The following year they released their second studio album titledI Don't Even Care Anymore.[4][5][6] In 2013, Soft Speak Records released a split with Dowsing, Haverford, Run, Forever, andCaptain, We're Sinking.[7]

In May 2014, Dowsing released a 7-inch split with Annabel via Count Your Lucky Stars.[8][9][10]

In July 2015, Count Your Lucky Stars Records released a 7-inch split withThe Cardboard Swords, Dowsing, Long Knives, and Sinai Vessel.[11]

On April 29, 2016, Dowsing released their third studio album entitledOkay via Asian Man Records.

In 2016, Dowsing featured a demo version of "Feeling Better" on "Forever Beautiful, A compilation of love for Orlando" after thePulse nightclub shooting.

Musical style

Dowsing's sound has been described as "emotionally chargedindie punk". The band's debut EPAll I Could Find Was You has been described as "emo-infusedindie rock". Hence, they have categorized as "emo-punk" andmidwest emo.[12][13]Alternative Press designated the band's early releases as "Mineral worship", and they are considered anemo revival band.[14][15]
