Douglas James McAllister (born 1973) is aScottish Labour Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) forWest Dunbartonshire since July 2024.[1]
McAllister graduated from theUniversity of Glasgow in 1995 with a law degree.[2] He worked as a defence lawyer for 27 years.[3]
He also served as a Councillor for theKilpatrick Ward in West Dunbartonshire which he represented for 23 years (previously named Hardgate Ward). He was also the Provost of West Dunbartonshire Council for 7 years.[4]
In 2021, McAllister contestedClydebank and Milngavie for theScottish Parliament elections, coming second behind the SNP candidateMarie McNair.[5]
