Dorianne Laux (born January 10, 1952, inAugusta, Maine) is anAmerican poet.

Biography

Laux worked as asanatorium cook, a gas station manager, and a maid before receiving aB.A. in English fromMills College in 1988.[1]

Laux taught at theUniversity of Oregon. She is a professor atNorth Carolina State University’s creative writing program, and theMFA in Writing Program atPacific University.[2] She is also a contributing editor atThe Alaska Quarterly Review.

Her work appeared inAmerican Poetry Review,Kenyon Review,Ms.,Orion,[3]Ploughshares, andZyzzyva.[4]

Laux lives inRaleigh, North Carolina, with her husband, poetJoseph Millar.[2] She has one daughter.[5]
