Dontaye Dominic Draper (born August 10, 1984) is an American-Croatian former professionalbasketball player. Standing at 5 ft 11 in (1.80 m), he played at thepoint guard position.
Draped played high school basketball atWalbrook High School, inBaltimore, Maryland.He averaged 18 PPG in his first year. In his second year he averaged 34 PPG highschool high for PPG. Later touring his ACL. Made a come back though.
Draper playedcollege basketball at theCollege of Charleston, with theCharleston Cougars, from 2003 to 2007.
Draper began his professional career in2007–08 with theSydney Kings of the AustralianNational Basketball League (NBL). He then joined theFrench League clubHyeres-Toulon for the start of the 2008–09 season. In December 2008, he joined theBelgian League clubBC Oostende.
He then signed with theItalian Second Division clubPrima Veroli for the 2009–10 season. He next joined theAdriatic League clubCedevita Zagreb for the 2010–11 season. He was named theEuroCup MVP in 2011.[1] After two seasons with Cedevita Zagreb, he was signed byReal Madrid.[2]
On July 2, 2014, Draper signed a two-year deal with the Turkish teamAnadolu Efes.[3] On August 3, 2015, he left Efes, and signed a one-year deal with the Russian clubLokomotiv Kuban.[4]
On July 20, 2016, Draper returned to Real Madrid for the 2016–17 season.[5][6]
On November 14, 2017, Draper signed withReal Betis Energía Plus for the rest of the2017–18 ACB season.[7] On February 13, 2018, he parted ways with Sevilla after appearing in eight games.[8]
While in the process of acquiring his Croatian citizenship, Draper made the list of 25 players who were seniorCroatian national team candidates for theEuroBasket 2011.[9] In July 2011, shortly after having received his Croatian citizenship, Draper played his first game for the national team.[10] He also played at the2013 EuroBasket.
He also represented Croatia at the2015 EuroBasket,[11] where they were eliminated in the round of final 16 by theCzech Republic.[12]
